This Thursday Prof. Dr. Walter Brenner together with Prof. Dr. Falk Uebernickel gave an open lecture to a very interested elder audience as part of the public lecture program at the University St. Gallen. It was an introduction on Design Thinking as an innovation method but also a presentation on the cooperation between the HSG and the University of Stanford and the companies which are assigning innovation tasks to the students.
The listeners who were mostly retirees, were very curious about the prototypes Falk Uebernickel was presenting. As some had been working themselves in management or product development, these methods and especially the divergence in Design Thinking were new to them: The fact that the management of the sponsoring companies encourages projects with an open end and that failure is part of the process suprised them.
